Indiana Department of Education Awards $122 Million to Support Accelerated Learning

Eagle Country 99.3 By Indiana Department of Education Several local schools and organizations benefitted from the grant program INDIANAPOLIS - Gov. Eric J. Holcomb and the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) announced today that more than $122 million in state grant funds is being awarded to 110 community partners and schools across the state to help accelerate student learning this summer and beyond. Awardees of Indiana’s new Student Learning Recovery Grant Program will serve students in 83 of Indiana’s 92 counties.  Local recipients and the schools/organizations benefitting include:  Choices Coordinated Care Solutions (Sunman-Dearborn Community School Corporation) - $63,533.64 East Central Indiana Educational Service Center(Franklin County Community School Corporation, Greensburg School Corporation and several others) - $3,526,000.00

New school board member in Batesville

Sean Townsley BATESVILLE Sean Townsley, parent of two children in the Batesville Community School Corporation and a successful marketing practitioner in the community, has been appointed to the BCSC school board, according to school superintendent Paul Ketcham and school board president Jeremy Raver. Townsley will complete the term recently vacated by Dr. Stephen Stein, who served on the board for 10 years. “Dr. Stein provided valuable input to the school board and we wish him well,” Ketcham said. “We are grateful to Mr. Townsley for his willingness to become more involved at the schools and serve in this capacity to complete the remainder of Dr. Stein’s term.”

BCEF: Spring Honor A Staff Member Drive Underway

Eagle Country 99.3 By Batesville Community Education Foundation, news release Donations are being accepted through Friday, April 23. (Batesville, Ind.) - The Batesville Community Education Foundation (BCEF) is sponsoring a “You’ve Made a Difference” spring campaign to honor Batesville Community School Corporation (BCSC) staff members, according to BCEF executive director Anne Wilson. As the end of the school year approaches, BCEF wants to recognize those individuals who are having a positive impact on the lives of BCSC students and employees. For a minimum donation of $10, any BCSC teacher, administrator, staff member, bus driver, or coach – past or present – can be thanked for a job well done. The donation deadline is Friday, April 23 in order to have a sign with the employee’s name placed outside the school during National Educators Week in May.
