Last night’s game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets was a roller coaster of emotions. You go from jubilation to frustration to relief to shock and sadness. All in one hockey game.
It was great and terrible at the same time. Even in the loss, the Blackhawks look like a real team that can compete in real hockey games. This isn’t the kind of season we were expecting so far and in a shortened season, expectations and judgements need to be shortened as well. In the short-term, this Blackhawks team is entertaining. Maybe they won’t be playoff contenders, but at least they are not miserable.
Seeing that we’re going on three consecutive days of Carson Wentz-Bears rumors, I’m just about ready to take this to the next level. Or at minimum, I’d like for you to meet my friends while on a video chat. No pressure. (That’s a quarantine dating joke).
• A quick roundup as to how we got here in the first place. In January, the first reports surfaced that Wentz would seek an offseason trade – a request that came after a woeful season under center concluding with word of a fractured relationship between himself and Doug Pederson. But even after the Eagles split with their head coach, Wentz’s future was still up-in-the-air. A month later, rumors broke that the Eagles were taking calls from teams inquiring about Wentz’s availability. We were curious about the Bears being a fit. I’ve been looking forward to this. Hopefully, there is an FCS component to the next EA Sports College Football franchise. Yours truly wants to rebuild Saluki football and take them to the moon!

• I’m taking this all with a grain of salt, because this is all so easy to say in hindsight. Then again, if anyone knows how to evaluate quarterbacks, it’s Saints Head Coach Sean Payton and his Chiefs counterpart Andy Reid. Of course those guys were the ones aiming to trade up on Draft day. That part tracks.
