Michigan State’s early enrollees and transfers arrive with a few surprises

Early enrollees in the 2021 recruiting class are now with the program and are joined transfer additions.
Quarterback Anthony Russo (Temple), offensive lineman Jarrett Horst (Arkansas State), defensive end Drew Jordan (Duke) and running back Kenneth Walker III (Wake Forest) – who all committed to Michigan State since Dec. 16 – are officially enrolled the university, a program spokesman confirmed on Sunday. Additionally, defensive back Kendall Brooks from Division II North Greenville University in South Carolina, is now with the Spartans and is on scholarship.

Hamp Fay had only three starts as a varsity quarterback when he picked up an offer from Michigan State.
Less than a year later, the three-star prospect from All Saints’ Episcopal School in Fort Worth, Texas signed last month as a member of the Spartans’ 2021 recruiting class.
“You have to trust your eyes and all of the tape that you do have,” Michigan State coach Mel Tucker said on Dec. 16 while introducing his first recruiting class leading the program.

Rocky Lombardi found a new school and is headed to the MAC.
The former Michigan State quarterback announced his commitment to Northern Illinois on Sunday afternoon. The redshirt junior entered the transfer portal on Dec. 18.

The heart and soul of every great football team is its quarterback, but after a tumultuous offseason filled with lots of roster turnover and new acquisitions, the starting quarterback for Michigan.
