Michigan State QB target AJ Duffy commits to Florida State

Michigan State’s search for a quarterback in the next recruiting class just hit a snag.
AJ Duffy, a 2022 four-star quarterback from IMG Academy in Florida, announced his commitment to Florida State on Wednesday night. Duffy had Michigan State in his top three, along with Florida State and Arizona State.
Duffy initially planned on announcing a commitment on March 31 but pushed back that date. He visited Arizona State and Florida State for their spring games and was in East Lansing over the weekend to watch Michigan State’s open spring practice.

The latest departure from East Lansing comes in redshirt junior quarterback Theo Day, who becomes the ninth player to leave the program since Saturday’s spring practice finale, and 25th player overall from last season’s roster.

Anthony Russo received a shotgun snap, faked a handoff and then looked downfield.
He took a few steps back in the pocket, set his feet and dropped a pass over the shoulder to receiver Jayden Reed for a 41-yard touchdown down the left sideline.
“I just wanted to lay the ball out there,” Russo said, “and let him go make a play like he always does.”

Michigan State’s spring attrition has now hit the quarterback room.
Redshirt junior quarterback Theo Day entered his name in the transfer portal on Wednesday. He appeared in only two games for the Spartans and was the fourth quarterback who got snaps during Saturday’s open spring practice, making the outlook for playing time this fall remote.

Whether it was a drill, a seven on seven or 11 on 11, Walker showed serious home run play potential for this Michigan State offense. Walker has a quick burst and ability to make defenders miss even on his first step, something that the running backs for Michigan State a year ago didn�
