After giving up 12.5 goals per game in their truncated 2020 season (ranked 46th in Division I), the Terps have cut that down to 10 in 2021 (tied-11th). In two more games, Duke has allowed the same amount of goals per game.Â
Both defenses are tasked with limiting superstar attackmen in Marylandâs Bernhardt and Dukeâs Michael Sowers. Both are tasked in making sure their surrounding casts donât cause irreparable damage.

The senior attackman with a penchant for coming up clutch in overtime did it again Sunday, spiking the ball off the turf and into the net as he fell to the ground and sending Duke back to championship weekend with a 10-9 NCAA quarterfinal win over Loyola at Arlotta Stadium in South Bend, Ind.
