Cabinet approval to develop Colombo Port WCT as a PPP with Adani, JKH & SLPA

Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal presented by the Port Minister to develop the West Container Terminal (WCT) of the Colombo Port on a Build, Operate and Transfer basis for a period of 35 years as a public-private partnership with Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ Consortium) and its local representative John Keells Holdings PLC (APSEZ Consortium), and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. Cabinet approval granted on 01.02.2021 to develop the West Container Terminal in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Ports Authority and parties nominated by Indian and Japanese Governments, and also to appoint a Cabinet Appointed Negotiation Committee and a Project Committee to evaluate the proposals in this regard.

N100 levy: NLC wades in, resolve strike action by commercial tricyclist

By Bashir Bello The Kano State chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has on Tuesday waded in and resolve the strike action embarked upon by tricycle operators on Monday. Recall that the tricycle operators had began a strike action by withdrawing their services in the state to register their displeasure over an N100 levy and method to pay the tax slammed on them by the state government. NLC Chairman, Comrade Kabiru Ado Minjibir while addressing newsmen after a meeting that lasted for two (2) hours called on the tricycle operators to go back to work having reached an amicable resolutions. Minjibir said that all Tricycles riders are to pay a token of N100 daily tax as provided by the State Revenue Board Laws but only the first payment will be made through Remita and subsequent payment can be done through their android phones or POS.
