An increased number of calls have been coming into the Mental Health America of Augusta office this month related to depression and anxiety. The Staunton-based nonprofit is ready to answer the mighty call to action from our community.
After a successful virtual conference focused on youth and COVID-19 with 710 registered participants, MHA-A has now pivoted its focus to Mental Health Month and providing additional resources and information to community members in need.
Winter brings high rates of seasonal depression along with excessive stress and anxiety because of the holiday season. But a December campaign through The Northwestern Community Services Board Prevention Department seeks to promote positive messaging and combat stress, anxiety and depression.
Throughout the month, the organization has been offering a weekly call to action with tips, activities and education to build up positivity in the community, according to a recent news release.
The goals of the âRooted in Positivityâ campaign are to deliver the following through positive messaging:
