AUGUSTA, Maine After a year-long investigation and pressure from family and journalists, Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey has determined the police-involved shooting last February in Minot was justified.
On February 2, 2020, Sergeant Jon Guay, Deputy Matthew Noyes, and Deputy Darian Nadeau of the Androscoggin County Sheriff s Office, and Sergeant Alfred Daigle of the Mechanic Falls Police Department, shot Jason Gora, 44, of Auburn after a high-speed car chase.
According to a press release immediately following the incident, the officers were looking for Gora who was reported missing and was reported to be in a compromised state of mind. Gora was also reported to be armed, according to police.

Officials say firefighters were called to the home on 172 Tiger Hill Road shortly before 8 a.m. Saturday. Investigators say once the flames were out, responders found a man’s body inside the home. The body is believed to be that of 65-year-old Michael Murphy, who lived there.Firefighters from Oxford and Mechanic Falls Fire Departments were called to the scene along with the Mechanic Falls Police Department and the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department.An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

POLAND, MAINE, Maine One person is dead Saturday after a fire at a home in Poland.
The Lewiston and Auburn Communications Center got a call at about 7:45 a.m. regarding a residential fire at 172 Tiger Hill Road in Poland.
Fire fighters extinguished the fire, and then first responders located who officials believe to be 65-year-old Michael Murphy, who lived at the home.
The Fire Marshal’s office was contacted, and a team of investigators responded.
