Brush fire quashed in East Bay, but state’s largest fire still rages By John King and Jessica Flores © Pacific Gas And Electric Co. The Diablo Fire was fully contained Sunday afternoon. Crews fully contained a brush fire hours after it flared up in eastern Contra Costa County on Sunday morning, while a huge blaze in Northern California continued to grow even as firefighters made progress slowing it down. The Diablo Fire was reported at about 9:24 a.m. Sunday near Vasco Road and Camino Diablo south of Brentwood, said George Huang, assistant chief of Cal Fire’s Santa Clara Unit. By early afternoon, the blaze had consumed 128 acres of mostly grassland prompting a response that included aircraft, bulldozers and more than 300 fire personnel from Cal Fire as well as Contra Costa and Alameda counties.

PG&E Admits to Falling Short in 2019 Power Outages

May 28, 2021 PG&E says they know the utility fell short of customer expectations. After being fined for violating guidelines in the 2019 planned power shutoffs, the company said in a statement that they have made substantial improvements and will continue to do so. The utility company was fined $106-million by the California Public Utilities Commission.
