The Davis Fire Department says smoke detectors warned an East Davis family to a kitchen fire early Wednesday morning, possibly saving their lives in the process.
Crews arrived at the 5 a.m. blaze on Belhaven Place to discover heavy flames coming out a window, threatening the home next door, according to a social media post.
“Luckily, the family of four had working smoke detectors, which alerted them to the fire and most likely saved their lives,” the post said. “This is a classic example of the importance of working smoke detectors in every home.”
