The exhibit, which will be on display on Cruiser Olympia until Thanksgiving weekend, will also feature animations highlighting the tropical force winds and 20-to-30-foot waves Cruiser Olympia encountered during its journey.  In addition to the exhibit, the Quarterdeck on the ship’s main deck, which hasn’t been open to the public for more than 20 years, will reopen to the public. It will now be part of the tour route of Cruiser Olympia, and guests will be able to have a sailor’s point of view. Also, the museum will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. May 31. The private ceremony will be streamed live via the museum s Facebook page.

Sebastopol Man Arrested After Found with Drugs, Cash, and Two Ghost Guns

May 24, 2021 Photo courtesy of the Santa Rosa Police Department Santa Rosa Police say a Sebastopol man was arrested after cash, ghost guns, and drugs were found during a traffic stop. Officers were near Moorland and Bellevue Avenues over the weekend to conduct a traffic stop. An open container of alcohol was seen and that led to a search of a backpack. The search turned up over $14,000 in cash, drugs, and two loaded and unregistered ghost guns. Jose Arroyo-Salinas was arrested and booked on several charges. Climate Change, Private Interests Erode Public Access to Shore

The seed that became a nonprofit ocean advocacy group was planted on a cold January day in 2006, when Dave McLaughlin was told he couldn’t park on a particular road near Salve Regina University and the Cliff Walk. He and a friend had been surfing at a popular Newport, R.I., spot at the end of Ruggles Avenue. It was a busy day in that section of the city, famous for The Breakers and other Gilded Age monuments, as three events were taking place, including one at Salve Regina University, so the surfers had to park two blocks away on Shepard Avenue.
