Each site was recommended to us by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for being especially kid-friendly: On this short but smart list, you’ll find giant slides, splash pads, nature centers, baby-friendly beaches, and even a waterfall you can swim in. Just pack some snacks, make sure you have a Recreation Passport, and hit the road.

Gov. Whitmer Announces Grants for 88 Electric Vehicle Charging Sites to Expand Statewide Network
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LANSING, Mich. Governor Gretchen Whitmer today announced thirty-two locations across Michigan have been approved as part of the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy s Charge Up grants totaling $1,868,681.13 to install fast charging stations for private and commercial electric vehicles, adding 88 charging outlets along key travel routes throughout the state.
Michigan put the world on wheels and will continue driving the world forward by leading on mobility and electrification, said
Governor Gretchen Whitmer. These grants demonstrate our commitment to expanding EV infrastructure across Michigan and build on the extraordinary work and investments of our innovative industry partners and EGLE to help support drivers who make the transition to electric vehicles.

COVID-19 Was 3rd Leading Cause Of Death In US For 2020, CDC Says
Death rates last year overall were highest among Black people and American Indian and Alaska Native people. The COVID-19 death rate was highest among Hispanic people.

The COVID-19 pandemic pushed total U.S. deaths last year beyond 3.3 million, the nation’s highest annual death toll, the government reported Wednesday.
The coronavirus caused approximately 375,000 deaths, and was the third leading cause of death in 2020, after heart disease and cancer. COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. now top 550,000 since the start of the pandemic.
COVID-19 displaced suicide as one of the top 10 causes of death, according to the report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

New Yorker Kristina Libby began placing heart-shaped flower wreaths in prominent sites across the city last April, when the first wave of the pandemic was at its terrifying height.
“I laid a heart because I was grieving and I wanted to do something to recognize our losses,” the artist said in a statement. “Community matters now more than ever, and one way we can grow community is by grieving together.”
The project has since blossomed into something greater. On March 1, volunteers created
