Belmont University announces L. Gregory Jones as new president

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) â Belmont Universityâs Board of Trustees has announced that L. Gregory Jones will become the new president of the university starting June 1.
According to a Monday news release, Jones will succeed former Belmont President Bob Fisher after Fisherâs retirement in May.
Jones is currently the dean of the Duke Divinity School, a position heâs held from 1997 through 2010 and again from 2018 to present. Between 2010 and 2018, he served as vice president and vice provost for global strategy at Duke University, as well as served at Baylor University.

Belmont University’s Board of Trustees has settled on a successor for longtime president Bob Fisher.
Gregory Jones, currently dean of Duke Divinity School, will take over the position in June, the university announced Monday. Jones is serving his second stint in a leadership role at the divinity school, which he previously led from 1997 to 2010. Between the two terms, Jones held other leadership positions at Duke and was
provost at Baylor University, a position he took on as the university was seeking to unravel a sexual assault scandal involving the school’s football team.
