Floods and landslides hit 131 villages, damage 830 houses
The Linganamakki reservoir built across Sharavati river had an inflow of 75,000 cusecs at 8 am on Friday. However, by 11 am, the inflows increased to 2.4 lakh cusecs. Due to heavy rainfall, the reservoir’s water level rose by four feet in 28 hours.
Heavy rainfall was reported in Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Kodagu, Belagavi, Haveri, Chikkamagaluru, Dharwad, Hassan and Davanagere districts on Friday, said Revenue Minister R Ashoka, who is also the vice-chairman of the Karnataka
State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA).
