A three-year programme that promises to bring Tyldesley to life with art and culture has been given a £70,000 cash injection. For Tyldesley, the group behind the Tyldesley Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) programme, will receive the money as part of Historic England £6m funding for projects across the country. It will help the community deliver a range of events and activities over the next three years and additional funding has also been secured for the expertise of arts and events producer Vicky Tyrrell. Ian Tomlinson, community engagement manager for Tyldesley HAZ, said: “The programme of events has been developed from ideas suggested by local residents and volunteers who are highly invested in the success of this initiative and will be supported by Natalia Stothard and Paul Costello from The Pelican Centre as our heritage and culture lead partner organisation.
A Senate bill that would allow Louisianans the right to sue social media companies that delete or censor their religious or political speech will be reconsidered next week after falling short during a floor vote earlier this month.
Louisiana Senate Rejects Bill Allowing Social Media Companies to Be Sued for Limiting Speech
A bill that would allow Louisiana residents to sue social media companies for deleting or limiting religious or political speech has failed to advance in the state Senate.
The proposal, known as Senate Bill 196 (pdf), would also have allowed legal actions against social media companies with more than 75 million users that use an algorithm to disfavor or censor a user’s religious or political speech. The bill could have allowed a user in the state to claim actual and punitive damages of up to $75,000.
Under the proposal, users don’t have a cause of action when a social media company takes actions against hate speech, calls for violence, obscene or pornographic content, or operational errors.
