Some pretty incredible stuff in this memo:
- Russo said Shaw was definately not at the supposed conspiracy meeting at Ferrie s apartment. Perhaps it was Guy Banister. Interestingly, Russo is not ready to admit that the meeting never happened.
- Garrison s office wanted to pin other murder charges on Shaw.
- Russo says he was upset that Shaw was arrested only on the basis of what Russo s statements. He was led to believe there was other evidence against Shaw.
- There was a terrible scene when Lt. O Donnell gave his report on Russo s lie detector test.
- Russo said Garrison s office knew how Judge Haggerty would rule on admission of documents. The staff were completely shocked when Officer Habighorst s fingerprint card showing that Shaw had admitted his alias was Clay Bertrand was not allowed (we ll be doing a post on this).

Today, let s examine the claim above about David Logan, who was brought to the attention of Garrison by Henry Lesnick:
Lesnick has talked to a number of researchers and the person he was referring to was David Logan. It s interesting to note that the above memo was written in 1969, after the Clay Shaw trial, as part of the Shaw Leads II campaign. In fact, they had already spoken to Logan almost a year earlier. Perhaps the memo writer was unaware of that fact.

It is interesting to note that the character Willie O Keefe, in Oliver Stone s film JFK, was a composite character based on four people, one of which was David Logan. The scene in the film with Shaw seated at a 9-foot table is taken directly from this interview. However, it is extremely doubtful that Shaw owned such a table - his apartment was way too small.
Stephen Jaffe and Mark Lane paid a visit to Reverend Raymond Broshears in Long Beach, California in July 1968. Here is the memo that Stephen Jaffe wrote to Jim Garrison about this first interview with Broshears.
Quite the story, huh? Let s review some the salient points:
- Hale Boggs was part of the conspiracy, and Clay Shaw was responsible for keeping Boggs in office.
- Two men from Garrison s office threatened Ferrie in 1965.
- Ferrie was working for a group of people who wanted to take over the United States.
- Ferrie told Broshears that Lyndon Johnson killed JFK.
- Broshears repeated the story about the two assassins being killed in a place crash in Corpus Christi - they were supposed to have been flown by Ferrie from Houston to South Africa.
Judge Herbert Christenberry held three days of hearings from January 25-27, 1971 to determine if Clay Shaw should stand trial for perjury. We ve already posted highlights of Jim Garrison s testimony. Today, we post the entire testimony of Lt. Edward O Donnell who conducted lie detector tests for Garrison in the 1960s.
