PEORIA HEIGHTS Jason Street knew he would die early, but he didn t dwell on death.
He was too busy living. And, in his own way, teaching and helping.
Born with a severe heart problem, Street underwent four surgeries by age 17. His prognosis put his life expectancy in his 30s, at most.
But he seldom talked about his challenges, preferring to focus on family, friends and especially faith. And in the end, his heart problem wasn t the primary culprit. In early April, he died unexpectedly at home, killed by COVID-19.
He was 22.
Afterward, his Facebook page exploded with posts from close friends, casual acquaintances, even complete strangers gushing over him as positive and phenomenal, always an inspiring light in this world.

A former Washington County Commissioner and county businessman’s death was mourned Monday by past politicians and the business community of the county.
“I got a phone call early this morning that he’d passed and have been in calls with several of the directors of the chamber since, letting them know,” said Rick Walters, also a former commissioner and a present director for the Muskingum Valley Beverly Waterford Chamber of Commerce. “Glen was a charter member of our chamber and a driving force in this county.”
