First responders in Pittsfield, Massachusetts have located and recovered the body of a man reported missing from New York state.
The Berkshire District Attorney’s Office made the announcement of the discovery in Pontoosuc Lake Thursday evening, but was withholding the man’s identity until the medical examiner can provide formal identification and notify family.
Pittsfield Police found a vehicle registered to the man near the lake on Monday. Multiple agencies had been searching the lake since Tuesday. Pittsfield Police are still investigating the apparent drowning. Authorities have not found any evidence to suggest anyone else was involved or evidence of foul play.
The search began on Tuesday. The district attorney's office confirmed at 7 p.m. that the body recovered from Pontoosuc Lake on Thursday was that of a missing New York.

PITTSFIELD - The body of a man was recovered from Pontoosuc Lake Thursday afternoon, and officials are waiting to confirm that the deceased is a man from New York who was reported missing last week, according to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.
The recovery was the culmination of a three-day search of that began on Tuesday when the missing man’s car was spotted parked near the lake. An investigation determined it was unlikely the man had left the area by other means, according to the DA’s office.
