Office of Corporate Engagement now part of President s Office | WSU Insider

April 28, 2021 The WSU Office of Corporate Engagement is moving to the Office of the President as part of the ongoing restructuring to build a more unified university system. Formerly under the Office of the Provost, WSU’s unit dedicated to building and maintaining relationships with industry partners will be headed by Alex Pietsch in his role as executive director of corporate engagement. “Under Alex’s leadership and in partnership and coordination from relevant administrative and academic units across the WSU System, the Office of Corporate Engagement will maintain a tiered approach to maintaining and growing holistic corporate partnerships that result in increased hiring of WSU graduates, sponsorship of and other financial support for WSU activities impacting currently enrolled students, philanthropic giving to WSU, initiation of applied research projects with WSU faculty members and participation on advisory boards,” said WSU President Kirk.

Elina Karvonen appointed development manager at the School of Engineering

Gary Marquis has appointed  Elina Karvonen, M.Soc.Sc., as development manager of the School of Engineering. Her duties are scheduled to begin on 1 June 2021 as current Development Manager  Soile Koukkari leaves for retirement in September. Karvonen was previously employed as a donor engagement manager in the Advancement and Corporate Engagement unit of Aalto University since 2017. She has worked at Aalto since 2011, and before her current position she has served as the corporate relations manager of the School of Engineering and coordinated Aalto University’s Multidisciplinary Institute of Digitalisation and Energy. ‘I am delighted to have Elina Karvonen join the school’s management team. In particular, I appreciate her expertise in university administration. She is already familiar with our school, our fields of study and our stakeholders, while also having a vision of the challenges we will have to face in the future,’ Dean Marquis noted.

Pioneer in RNA nanotechnology named Ohio State Innovator of the Year Leaders offer vision for the future at Research and Innovation Showcase 614.292.7276 Peixuan Guo, the Sylvan Frank Endowed Chair in Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery and the director of the College of Pharmacy Center for RNA Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine, is The Ohio State University 2021 Innovator of the Year. Guo is a pioneer of RNA nanotechnology, developing RNA particles that target tumors. His work has led to several discoveries: the RNA rubbery property that leads to more efficient cancer targeting without toxicity, novel methods for lung and liver cancer therapies, and a simple and fast method for diagnosing COVID-19 earlier in infection.
