NT COVID-19 Update: WA Hotspots Revoked
The Chief Health Officer has revoked Metropolitan Perth and the Peel Region in Western Australia as hotspots for the purposes of travel to the Northern Territory.
People arriving into the Northern Territory from Metropolitan Perth and the Peel Region will no longer have to undertake mandatory supervised quarantine in the NT. Anyone currently in mandatory supervised quarantine from Metropolitan Perth and the Peel Region will be able to exit.
Further to this, two Chief Health Officer testing directions have been updated and must be followed:
Anyone who arrived in the Northern Territory between from 17 April 2021 and visited any of the higher risk public exposure sites identified by Western Australian health authorities, must undertake 14 days of self-isolation at a suitable place for quarantine, as directed by an authorised officer, and be tested on Days 1, 7 and 12 after entering quarantine.

McGowan calls for the Federal Government to introduce alternative quarantine facilities.
On Saturday, McGowan hit out at the federal government for failing to provide better alternatives to hotel quarantine.
The premier said hotels in the Perth CBD were not fit-for-purpose quarantine facilities and defence facilities or immigration detention facilities would be more suitable. I m getting to the end of my tether with the Commonwealth handing responsibility to the states and not helping, he told reporters. It s the only way to help reduce the risk further. We cannot continue down this path for another year or beyond.
