Whatâs been a âdisasterâ for the hospitality sector has been âincredibleâ for retailers when it comes to Champagne sales in the UK during key consumption occasions: Christmas and Valentineâs Day.
According to specialist Champagne businesses in the UK, including the biggest player in the sector â Moët Hennessy â Covid-19 related restrictions have created a surge in retail sales for the upmarket French fizz, particularly if you are a famous brand, and especially via online channels.

A growing number of Champagne producers are launching direct-to-consumer portals in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic in a bid to increase their online sales.

Traditionally, Champagne brands have almost exclusively relied on distributors and retailers to sell their wines, but as the hospitality sector continues to struggle, direct to consumer (DTC) channels have become an attractive way for producers to recuperate lost revenue.
