Michael S. Borys
OAKVILLE – Michael Stanley Borys, age 67, passed away unexpectedly March 28, 2021. He was the husband of Denise (Tamosaitis) Borys.
Michael was born on Jan. 7, 1954 in Bridgeport, the son of the late Michael I. and Cecilia (Knapp) Borys. Michael proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy and then graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. After graduation, Mike worked at CCC Cheshire for two years as a corrections nurse grade 1.
From 1985 to 1996 Mike functioned in the major med area, trauma area and triage areas of Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. He made many lasting friendships there, and always felt fortunate that his career was something he truly enjoyed and felt passionate about.
Porter can floor his rivals in Stayers’ Hurdle
Gavin Cromwell won the Champion Hurdle and could win another championship race on Thursday.
A LARGE field of 15 is set to line up for Thursday’s highlight, the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle (3.05pm), where Paisley Park will bid to join the likes of Big Buck’s, Inglis Drever and Baracouda as dual winners of this race.
Emma Lavelle’s stable star won the 2019 renewal impressively but he was a bitter disappointment 12 months ago when finishing a well beaten seventh.
While some might have thought that was the end for the Andrew Gemmell-owned son of Oscar, he has bounced back in fine form this season.

In the annual social calendar, Cheltenham Festival occupies a place as the horsey crowd’s horse race. Leave Ascot to the lightweights and Aintree to, well, the Lambrini crowd: Cheltenham’s Gloucestershire setting, with prize-winning equestrian estates scattered across the county, means it’s always been a bona fide toff’s go-to.
Hence the steady attendance of royals, year on year. The household’s most fervent horse enthusiast, Princess Anne, lives in a country idyll - Gatcombe Park - a short drive away, and the Queen, the Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Cornwall have been known to place their bets at the famous race course. This year, of course, things are rather different.

Barbados Buck s a fast improver
Beaten on his hurdles bow in the autumn at Stratford (2m 6f, good) when he finished second to The Bull McCabe, Barbados Buckâs has won on all three starts since, including reversing form with Kim Baileyâs charge at Southwell over an extended three miles in November.
The manner of that success under a confident Bryony Frost certainly screamed of an improving stayer and Barbados Buckâs had a couple of subsequent winners behind when defying a penalty back at the same course in December, this time in the hands of stable jockey Harry Cobden.
