Aberdeen Science Centre to hold virtual sleepover event Updated: 16/02/2021, 9:56 am © Supplied by Big Partnership An Aberdeen science centre is to host an online sleepover event. The free event, which takes place during British Science Week 2021, will run from 11am on Saturday, March 13, until 11am on Sunday, March 14. It will include hourly activities (with a break for bedtime) for children aged 6-12 years old. With parental support, the activities will also be suitable for younger children. The aim of the event is to help families and groups participate in a range of fun and educational STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) activities that can be carried out in their own homes.

Four couples at Cowdray Club Care Home were treated to unique, romantic dinners this week as chefs at the Renaissance Care-run home served up their all-time favourite treats, accompanied by flowers, card, prosecco and truffles, donated by nearby Aldi supermarket.

A group of Aberdeen school pupils have won a prestigious prize at an energy industry competition. The youngsters from Robert Gordon’s College claimed the top spot at TechFest’s digital adaptation of its STEM in the Installation project. The team, known as RGC Energy, consisted of Richard Varghese, Craig Gilchrist, Matthew Seward, Urquhart Dyce, Sideeq Remi-Shodipo, Robert Kennedy and Innes Cameron.  They are all in sixth-year. The project focused on transitioning to reduce carbon emissions as much as possible, as part of a global movement towards net zero.

Sign Up Supermarket chain Aldi has today announced an expansion drive, including the opening of a new store in the north-east, which will lead to the creation of 600 jobs across Scotland next year. The shop at Portlethen Retail Park is one of four Scottish outlets the German firm is planning to launch in 2021 in a £20 million investment. It also revealed plans to refurbish seven stores and launch a “click and collect” service north of the border for the first time.
