A MUSIC education hub for the North-East is to receive more than £200,000 from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund. Music Partnership North, which works with both Northumberland County Council and Newcastle City Council will receive £205,577 from the second round of the fund. The partnership works with families, schools, and arts organisations to support musical learning and progression of all students and deliver tuition over a wide range of instruments. It is hoped that the funding will reverse the 45 per cent decrease in students participating in instrumental tuition, as well as supporting the creation of two large scale online musical events – the Big Gig and Unity through Music 2.
