Scott Harshbarger and Lauren Stiller Rikleen: Only big truth can defeat Trump and the GOP s big lie | Columnists

Culture war s ghost hunters

By John Young If this is “woke,” bring it. Add my voice to those calling on the NCAA to stick it to states that marginalize transgender individuals. That could mean pulling tournaments based on the NCAA Board of Governor’s April 12 statement that “firmly and unequivocally supports the opportunity for transgender athletes to compete in college sports.” The action of taking business away from those states requires newfound spinal fortitude from the NCAA and would allow it to show its expressed policy of being committed to sites “free of discrimination.” Like mastodons ahead of a thunderstorm, red-state legislatures have stampeded to make life even more miserable for those who don’t identify with their birth genders. This includes “bathroom bills” based on wild claims about the ridiculous threat when someone who is transgender meets nature’s call.

All Republican headlines around the country have the same origin: Trump s Big Lie

All Republican headlines around the country have the same origin: Trump’s Big Lie By James Pindell Globe Staff,Updated May 10, 2021, 3:52 p.m. Email to a Friend Maricopa County ballots cast in the 2020 general election are examined and recounted by contractors working for Florida-based company, Cyber Ninjas,Matt York/Associated Press Consider some of the biggest political headlines lately, particularly as they concern Republicans. All of them, though different and spread out over the country, have the same origin: The Big Lie about a stolen election. Arizona Republicans have spent weeks haphazardly trying to recount votes from a single county from the presidential election seven months ago. One Republican state senator called it “embarrassing.”

Only Big Truth can defeat Trump and the GOP s Big Lie

Only ‘Big Truth’ can defeat Trump and the GOP’s ‘Big Lie’ Arizona is developing the model for the future: Create chaos through a biased recount, then solve the problem you created by passing new laws to suppress the right to vote. By Scott Harshbarger and Lauren Stiller RikleenUpdated May 7, 2021, 2:33 p.m. Email to a Friend Cyber Ninjas owner Doug Logan (left) a Florida-based consultancy, and Ken Bennett, former Arizona secretary of state, talk about overseeing a 2020 election ballot audit at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum, during a news conference, April 22, in Phoenix. The equipment used in the November election won by President Joe Biden and the 2.1 million Maricopa County ballots were moved to the site so Republicans in the state Senate who have expressed uncertainty that Biden s victory was legitimate can recount them and audit the results.Ross D. Surviving the First Years of Growth

Starting a new firm? What to expect and how to survive the experience. Starting a new business is hard work. Really hard work. No matter how hard you think it will be, it will be even harder than that. I know from first-hand experience. I started my career as a lawyer and helped many businesses get their start, including a handful of financial advisory firms. Then I started a small venture capital firm with a couple of partners and helped even more businesses get off the ground.  Then I decided to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty. Over the past 30 years, I have either founded or worked at seven small or startup financial services firms. Some succeeded. Some failed. It added up to a lot of blood, sweat and tears.
