The Coast Guard rescued four boaters Friday from Yamani Islets, 27 miles south of Sitka, Alaska.
A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted the four boaters, a 50-year-old female, and her three children ages; 21, 17, and 13 from shore after their 15-foot vessel capsized. The helicopter crew transported them to Coast Guard Air Station Sitka where they were reported to be in stable condition.
Watchstanders in the Sector Juneau command center received initial notification from a friend at approximately 11 p.m. of an overdue vessel. Sector watchstanders directed the launch of an aircrew from Air Station Sitka and the crew of Coast Guard Cutter Bailey Barco.

While many Sitkans were nestled snug in their beds in the wee hours of Christmas morning, a Coast Guard helicopter crew was busy rescuing four boaters whose 15-foot vessel had capsized near the Yamani Islets, around 27 miles south of Sitka.
According to a Coast Guard press release, watchstanders in Juneau received a call around 11 p.m. on Christmas Eve about an overdue vessel. A helicopter crew from Air Station Sitka, and the Ketchikan-based Cutter Bailey Barco both responded to look for the boaters.
While the helicopter crew was searching, they received a distress call over VHF radio from near the entrance of Necker Bay. The caller confirmed that all of the boaters had made it ashore after their vessel capsized.

KODIAK, Alaska The Coast Guard rescued three hunters Thursday from a beached vessel in Barlow Cove, approximately 15 miles northwest of Juneau.
Coast Guard cutter Bailey Barco launched a small boat crew who picked up the hunters from the shoreline and transferred them to a Coast Guard Station Juneau 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew. The Station Juneau boat crew transported them to awaiting emergency medical services at Statter Harbor.
Watchstanders in the Sector Juneau command center received initial notification from the hunters at approximately 12:30 p.m., reporting they had intentionally beached their boat to prevent the flooding vessel from sinking.
