Hathoot Earns Mountain West Player of the Week
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. Following a phenomenal series against San José State, University of New Mexico’s Rachael Hathoot has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week.
It is the first weekly conference honor for Hathoot and the second for the Lobos in the last three weeks, joining Cameryn O’Grady who was named on April 27.
The Albuquerque native went 6-for-8 at the plate, with three doubles and a home run as well as reaching on two walks, and finished with a 1.500 slugging percentage and .800 on-base percentage, while accounting for five runs-batted-in.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. In the final home game of the 2021 season and on the day in which The University of New Mexico softball team honored its four seniors, the Lobos prevailed in a 5-4 win over San José State to win the series.
While Saturday’s game two win snapped a 14-game losing streak to the Spartans, Sunday’s win signified UNM’s first series win over SJSU since 1999.
Moments after being recognized in her final game at Lobo Softball Field, senior pitcher Kiana Spencer took to the circle to start Sunday’s series finale and pitched a complete game. It was her seventh time as a Lobo throwing 7.0 innings and her 15th complete game, striking out four batters in the process to tie her season high.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.– The University of New Mexico enters its final home series of the season starting on Saturday, May 8 as the Lobos welcome San José State. In addition, Sunday’s game will mark UNM’s Senior Day with the Lobos set to recognize Cameryn O’Grady, Lauren Wilmert, Kiana Spencer and Bailey Klitzke.
The three-game series starts with a Saturday doubleheader at 2 p.m. MT. The second game will take place 30 minutes following the conclusion on game one with the third game set for Sunday at noon.
All games will be streamed on the Mountain West Network but tickets are still available for those that would like to attend in person.
