Boonville Daily News
Boonville Pirates baseball coach Adam Arnette had no worries as to whether senior pitcher Cody Garner could finish the game Wednesday night against Wright City in the championship in the Class 4 District 7 Tournament in Ashland.
Arnette had several words to describe Garner, which included bulldog and warrior. But in the end, Garner came through just like Arnette thought he would by picking up a complete-game victory against Wright City for a 3-0 victory.
Boonville, improving to 16-5 on the season, have now won nine games in a row and 12 of its last 13.
The Pirates will move on to sectionals, where they will face the winner of Fatima-Blair Oaks on Tuesday, May 25 at Twillman field in Harley park.

The Bulldogs batted around in the first and tacked on two in the seventh, but could not overcome a seven run sixth inning Boonville rampage, falling 14-7 on the road Tuesday.
Mexico’s hill corps had done well, but the bullpen struggled in the bottom of the sixth. A hit batter, two walks, a costly wild pitch and four Pirate base hits, including a round tripper by Peyton Taylor spelled doom for the Bulldogs.
Until that point the outlook had been promising. Ty Prince drew a walk, stole second and was sacrificed to third. Daeye Miller’s base hit drove Prince home.

CANTON There will be a live audience for the Canton Central School Thespians performance of the musical “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” with performances set for April 30 at 7:30 p.m. and a matinee at 2 p.m. on May 1.
There was no formal vote at the school board meeting April 19, but a show of hands by board members in support of allowing a live audience was overwhelming.
“So I just wanted to thank you so much for allowing the kids and myself to move back to what feels like normal,” said Kimberly Busch, music teacher, at Canton Central School.
