The Highland County Drug Abuse Prevention Coalition unveiled the new Med Collect boxes on Wednesday. There will be four new boxes in the county at Corner Pharmacy in Greenfield, Downtown Drug in Hillsboro, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office in Hillsboro and Kratzer’s Hometown Pharmacy in Lynchburg.
Nik Beatty, head pharmacist for Downtown Drug in Hillsboro, said the Med Collect boxes are better for the environment and community because they don’t involve flushing medication down the toilet or putting it in the trash.

“In school, I was often made fun of because of my weight,” she began. “But I always loved clothes. I loved fashion. No matter my size, I always wanted to look cute and trendy, and I kept telling myself that one day I would open a clothing store for women of all sizes. How scary! So, I never did it.”
“But,” she continued, “I kept telling myself, ‘You have to quit living with the fear in your head and start living with the dream in your heart.’ I think I told myself that 100 times every day as I kept trying to figure out how to do it. My hubby was the most encouraging person ever, and would constantly tell me, ‘What’s the worst that can happen, you have to shut it down? You’ll never know if you never try.’”
