The Bennington Banner will feature some of these folks in âUnsung Heroes: Incredible stories of caring during the pandemic,â a special, keepsake tabloid-sized section coming out within the June 12 edition of the newspaper.

The Manchester Journal was honored twice in the New England Newspaper & Press Association s 2020 Better Newspaper Competition Awards including a first-place win for editorial writing by Greg Sukiennik.
Editor Darren Marcy took third place for obituary writing for a feature about Barbara Riley following the local philanthropist s death last summer.
The awards were given in the category for weekly newspapers with a circulation of more than 5,000 copies and came against the largest weekly newspapers in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Bennington considers other uses for Energizer facility

BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) The town of Bennington is seeking proposals from consultants to help prepare a report on the potential redevelopment or reuse for the soon-to-close Energizer industrial facility.
The company announced in 2019 that it would wind down battery manufacturing operations in Bennington and consolidate those in Portage, Wisconsin., in 2021, the Bennington Banner reported. At the time, Energizer employed about 90 in Bennington.

The state has provided funding to look at options for revitalizing and reusing the Energizer facility, said Jonathan Cooper, community and economic development specialist with the Bennington County Regional Commission.
