BENNINGTON â With 10 candidates running for three seats, there is plenty of competition in this yearâs Bennington Select Board races.
Catamount Access Television has been airing Bennington Select Board candidate forums for many years, and the local cable network will be joining forces this year with the Bennington Banner.
âBetween our video streaming capabilities and the journalism skills provided by the Bennington Banner, this yearâs forum is sure to inform all voters of each candidateâs views and opinions,â said Mike Cutler, CAT-TV production manager.
The virtual forum is set for Friday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. It will be moderated by Kevin Moran, executive editor with New England Newspapers, Inc., which owns the Banner, the Manchester Journal and the Brattleboro Reformer, as well as The Berkshire Eagle in Pittsfield, Mass.

To the Editor: In late December, long after the election, Bennington Banner (and sometime Reformer) columnist Don Keelan proposed the currently vacant Southern Vermont College as the site of the Trump presidential library. My first reaction was laughter, which is probably why Keelan felt the need to assure readers it was a serious suggestion. âVermont,â he wrote, âstarting with the governor, has not been friendly to President Trump. He has been the subject of non-stop criticism; the Vermont media has been relentless. The thrashing needs to end.â
By late January, Mr. Keelan felt otherwise: âIn a flash, my four years of attempting to support the Trump presidency was stripped from me. Like tens of millions of other Americans, I was willing to look the other way when it came to the character accusations against Trump initially, during his candidacy and then his administration since 2017.â
