The Trinity College of Arts and Sciences made changes to its spring 2021 grading policies, but despite student advocacy, these changes don’t extend to the Pratt School of Engineering.
Many Duke courses used hybrid or virtual learning models this fall in response to the need for distance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some students have enjoyed the extra flexibility that new course formats have offered, while others have struggled with paying attention and having meaningful interactions in online courses.
Raymond Joseph Simpson, IV, 59, of Patuxent River, MD, passed away on December 16, 2020 at Hospice House of St. Mary s.
He was born on November 30, 1961 in Upper Darby, PA to the late Raymond Joseph Simpson, III and Mary DiCesar Hackett Simpson.
In 1979, Ray enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country until his retirement as an Aviation Electrician s Mate Chief Petty Officer in 2004. During his service he earned many citations, commendations, and medals, and was exceptionally proud of his service. Upon retirement, he was employed at Dyncorp, Northrup Grumman, and most recently, a skilled Logistician for the Department of Defense at NAVAIR Patuxent River on the Fire Scout program.
