SUPPLEMENT: Letting the facts speak for themselves
Otto Kilian, preface to ‘White terror in central Germany: the truth about the March battles - stenographic
report of the proceedings of the Prussian state parliament’s investigative committee over October 27-28
1921’ (translator: Ben Lewis)
When, in March, the battles between the green police [nickname for paramilitary police formations known as the ‘security police’] and the revolutionary workers broke out in central Germany, the bourgeois world was quick to denounce them as a ‘communist putsch’, as a ‘Communist Party crime’. An enormous flood of lies and slander rolled through the German press in accordance with the orders and wishes of the capitalists and their government.
Gary McKee, of Cleator Moor, is on day 95 of running 110 marathons in 110 days. The challenge will surpass his physical endeavour in 2017 when he completed 100 marathons in 100 days. Musician Ben Lewis, known by his stage name Ben Barrow, has now penned an anthem for the record-breaking runner, to help boost the fundraising total. Gary said: “It’s superb. 85 per cent of the money goes to the fundraising page. It’s a catchy tune. It’s just to try and raise a bit more money and hopefully that’s what it will do.” Ben, an actor and musician from Barrow, wrote the song over the bank holiday weekend, after hearing about Gary’s fundraiser from his dad, Martin Lewis, who works at Forth Engineering.

Peter Bruce has been a fisherman since he was 16 and is now the skipper of his own boat. But the fishing business in Peterhead, a town in Aberdeenshire, isn’t what it was.
The pandemic and Brexit have hit the industry hard. There were once 120 commercial fishing vessels registered here, now there’s about 30.
“Boris Johnson and the highest levels of government came up to Peterhead, promising a new dawn for the fishing industry and they have really let us down,” Peter says.
Like many people in Scotland, his politics are complicated. His problem isn’t with Brexit itself, which he voted in favour of, but rather the deal that was done with the European Union.

THE UK’s leading child protection group is calling for Spain to tighten the recruitment process of English teachers.
The plea by The Safeguarding Alliance aims to protect the country against a British legal loophole that has allowed potentially hundreds of British paedophiles to find work in Spanish schools.
The group have been campaigning for several years to close this very dangerous loophole in the UK that allows registered sex offenders to name their name by deed poll, evade all authorities and travel overseas and now they have called on Spain to take action.
