On 1 April 2021, art historian Ben Lewis announced the creation and sale of a non-fungible token (NFT) version of Leonardo da Vinvi’s Salvator Mundi painting. The painting depicts a Jesus figure. With his right hand, he makes the sign of the cross. His left hand holds a transparent crystal sphere. The actions of both hands symbolise his role as Salvator Mundi, saviour of the world.
