Penn State Offering Weekly Incentives for Students and Employees Who Get COVID-19 Vaccine

Following its plan to provide incentives for getting the COVID-19 vaccine rather than requiring it, Penn State announced on Tuesday that it will have weekly prize drawings for students and employees who provide proof that they got their shots. Beginning June 7 and continuing through Aug. 23, those who submit their vaccination status and complete an online form will be entered for the drawings each week for a $1,000 payment, $100 Barnes & Noble gift card (four winners each week) and a football signed by Penn State football coach James Franklin. All students and employees at all campuses who have already received the vaccine or who receive it in the future are eligible.

Too Cool for School - Bill s Weekly Column

Like millions of American parents, I am paying major dollars to send the urchins to college.  My daughter graduated last week and did very well.  I’m happy and proud because she is now prepared to venture forth and do some good in this world. It goes without saying that many college students are under severe pressure to conform to the “woke” culture being imposed on them by misguided teachers and administrators.  In some schools it’s like a cult.  The oppression is almost beyond belief. Penn State University was established in 1855 to give working class kids a shot at moving on up economically.  In fact, it’s initial name was “The Farmer’s High School.“  For more than a 165 years, Penn State was a sane place.  Now it is not.

Penn State Faculty Call For More Input In Picking Next President

1:27 Penn State faculty members are calling for more input from professors, students and staff in picking the next president of the university to replace Eric Barron, who is retiring in 2022.  More than 700 have signed an online petition started by Professor of Media Studies Mary Beth Oliver in support of more academic involvement in the search.  “We, the undersigned, want to express our concern that the search committee is largely devoid of input from people who are employed as faculty or staff at Penn State or who are obtaining advanced degrees at Penn State,” the petition reads, urging the ongoing process to be “substantially revised.”
