Fanbo Zeng, China s top basketball prospect, is decommitting from Gonzaga and planning to join the NBA G League Ignite, sources tell
The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The 6-foot-10 forward will be eligible for the NBA Draft in 2022. He was ranked as a four-star high school recruit out of Windermere Prep (Windermere, Fla.), where he played from 2018-2020 after arriving from China in 2017.
Zeng committed to Gonzaga last fall, but sources say the departure of assistant coach Tommy Lloyd who led the recruitment of Zeng to the Bulldogs played a major role in the 18-year-old s decision to head to the G League now. Lloyd recently agreed to become the new head coach at Arizona.
Oumar Ballo is Heading to Arizona

None of this is too surprising. The Zags beat out the likes of Baylor and Arizona for his services in the first place, and considering former assistant coach Tommy Lloyd is now the current head coach at Arizona, the pieces were in place for Ballo to follow.
Ballo arrived as part of an embarrassment of large riches that was the Class of 2019, alongside Drew Timme, Anton Watson, and Pavel Zakharov. With both Timme and Watson establishing themselves as regulars in the rotation, the same could not be said for Ballo.
He was forced to sit his freshman season as the NCAA worked through academic issues on his transfer. Last season, with the expectations of the world on his broad shoulders, Ballo displayed flashes of his potential at times, but more often than not, he showcased the work that still needs to be done. Although Ballo shot 62.9 percent from the floor, he often struggled to corral the passes into the post.
Chet Holmgren unzipped his sweater to reveal a t-shirt with images of himself in a Gonzaga jersey on the Monday afternoon edition of SportsCenter. The No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2021 according to ESPN, Rivals, and 247 Sports will head to college to play for a Zags program that just came excruciatingly close to being crowned men’s college basketball first undefeated national champion since Indiana in 1976.
Holmgren is a self-described “6’12 big guard” who established himself as a blue chip prospect during a dominant high school career at Minneapolis’ Minnehaha Academy. Holmgren teamed with Jalen Suggs for his first three years of high school basketball at Minnehaha, and he’s following Suggs’ footsteps again by choosing Gonzaga. Like Suggs, Holmgren is also expected to be a top NBA draft pick after one season in Spokane.
