Penn Cambria School District has begun investigating an incident caught on video, in which a 13-year-old student was assaulted by his peers, according to reports by WTAJ.
The student, identified as Deshea Smith, an eighth-grader, was reportedly “punched and then thrown to the ground on school property,” according to the article. The students who attacked Smith reportedly used racial slurs. The student’s mother, speaking to WTAJ, said her son has been bullied at the middle school before and that both of them have previously reported it to teachers and the principal.
Penn Cambria School District Superintendent William Marshall released a statement on the incident.
