The Trempealeau County Health Department (TCHD) originally planned on a series of five informational presentations on the COVID-19 vaccine. However, the county decided to curtail the presentations, department spokesperson Kaila Baer said. “Nobody came,” she said.

Pfizer Gets Emergency Use Authorization for Vaccinating 12-15-Year-Olds

WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-The Food and Drug Administration on Monday granted Pfizer emergency use authorization for distributing their COVID-19 vaccine to 12-15-year-olds.   In Winona County, Emergency Management Coordinator Ben Klinger says they’ve seen the majority of new infections in that age group. Public Health Supervisor Melanie Tatge said the county has been in communication with area school districts, forming vaccination plans.  “We’re going to try our best to make that before schools close we can at least get one dose administered to those 12 to 15-year-olds,” said Tatge during an interview on KWNO’s In the Know last week. 

Winona County to Host Three Vaccine Clinics

(KWNO)-Winona County Health and Human Services will hold three vaccine clinics this week.   Health officials will distribute the Moderna vaccine at a clinic in Winona from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday. There will also be a clinic in Lewiston from 4-5:30 p.m., where officials will administer the Pfizer vaccine.   The county will also distribute the one-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine in Winona on Friday from 6-7 p.m.   “Everybody who’s the correct age is eligible,” said Winona County Emergency Management Coordinator Ben Klinger. “Come and get it. That’s the best way to protect everybody now and let’s get to that 70% early, let’s get rid of that mask mandate.”
