Rydon appoints new managing director
Rydon has appointed Ben Irvine as managing director of the group’s maintenance division.
Irvine (pictured) replaces Jeff Henton, who retired at the end of March after 37 years with the company. He was appointed MD of the maintenance business in 2010.
Irvine has been with Rydon since 2014 and was serving as director of housing for the maintenance arm. He has also been promoted to the group board.
Henton was in charge of the maintenance business when the company won the contract in 2014 to refurbish Grenfell Tower, as well as when it carried out the work over the course of 2015 and 2016. Last year, the inquiry into the blaze at the tower in 2017 heard that Henton was given a “heads up” by the client, Kensington and Chelsea Tenant Management Organisation, that Grenfell s refurbishment contract was about to go out for tender. Henton also informed colleagues at Rydon via email that the client had told him the contractor was in “first place�
