Solvang church teams up with SB County Public Health in efforts to get community members COVID vaccinated
SOLVANG, Calif.- Health officials are looking to a higher power to help get COVID vaccines out to more people in Solvang.
Bethania Lutheran Church has been on the front lines of the COVID battle.
From food distribution for the past year since the beginning of the pandemic, to now helping with getting Solvang residents the first COVID vaccine dose.
Dozens of Solvang residents now have their first dose of the Moderna vaccine.
“Most of our people were having to travel to Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, or Lompoc,” said Bethania Lutheran Church Reverend Chris Brown. “We got a lot of senior citizens and folks that have trouble with mobility.”

The church began by distributing food to those affected by the pandemic.
Now, they re helping Solvang residents get their first dose of the Moderna vaccine.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County is scaling back this week, and technically closed but some staff will still be available, and many food distribution sites will be supplied.
The Foodbank says it is doing year-end inventory this week and deep cleaning.
Eight locations in the county will still have food for the community.
