Incoming Chief Justice Evan Jenkins has a virtual meeting with fifth-grade students at South Jefferson Elementary in Jefferson County on Dec. 2.
CHARLESTON Justice Evan Jenkins, the incoming chief justice of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals for 2021, said there was still work to do to restore faith in the judicial branch but the court is heading in a good direction.
“We’re going to get off the bench and get out into the public to not only share with public the reforms we put in place, but to reassure them that our commitment will continue and our work is not done,” Jenkins said in a phone interview talking about his goals for the next year.

The NT Government has reappointed Beth Walker as the NT Public Guardian for a term of five years from 1 February 2021.
Ms Walker continues her role, having effectively led the Office of the Public Guardian towards a contemporary guardianship framework since the commencement of the Guardianship of Adults Act 2016.
Ms Walker has an extensive background in areas such as mental health, aged care, disability services, children and families. She has been a panel member on various committees and tribunals within the human services sector.
Ms Walker has a comprehensive knowledge of guardianship issues in the Northern Territory, undertaking extensive advocacy to protect and promote the human rights of Territorians with impaired decision-making capacity.

Supreme Court Chief Justice Tim Armstead began his first full 12-year-term on the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia on Tuesday by pledging to continue to work to restore public confidence in the state court system. “I feel deeply honored and deeply privileged to be a member of this Court,” Chief Justice Armstead said. “It is important that the people of our state have respect for their Court.” Chief Justice Tim Armstead was appointed to the Supreme Court by Governor Jim Justice in September 2018. He was elected November 6, 2018, to retain the seat until the end of the term on December 31, 2020, and was re-elected June 9, 2020, to a 12-year term that will begin on January 1, 2021.
