First Day of Schools Reopening Sees 25-40% of Students Opting to Stay Home
The lower grades of primary schools (grades 1-4) and kindergartens opened on the 19th of April. According to the decision of the Orbán government, since teachers received their first dose of vaccination before the opening, and the home-schooling of little children is often unmanageable, the opening of kindergartens and lower grades of primary school is indispensable. However, the Democratic Union of Teachers (PDSZ) argues that although the government’s decision to postpone the opening of secondary schools was positive, all public education institutions should remain closed. Team Lakay donates rice to fellow Igorots on holiday season
Members of the Team Lakay have launched a rice donation drive over the holiday season to fellow Igorots in Benguet.
Team Lakay founder and coach Mark Sangiao led the project for different beneficiaries in Atok and Itogon, east of La Trinidad where the Central Gym is located.
At least 10 sacks of rice were given to Bethesda Children’s Home in Itogon while Team Lakay conducted door-to-door donations on the mountains of Caliking, Atok for victims of strokes and residents of distant areas.
In San Fernando, La Union, where another gym branch stands, Team Lakay also extended help to another orphanage called Christian Praise Fellowship.
