Neighbors of a man who was stabbed to death at his mobile home in Pender County on Saturday afternoon described him as a good man. Deputies with the Pender County Sheriff s Office were called to 30 Tasha Lane in Burgaw around 2:16 p.m. Saturday after a stabbing was reported, according to a late Saturday evening news release by the sheriff s office. The sheriff s office and the Burgaw Police Department arrived at the address and found Edward Hicks, 51, of Burgaw, dead, the release said. About 10 people were gathered in a nearby yard on Sunday afternoon. Several agreed to talk about Hicks on condition that they not be identified.
