“That’s when I knew I was getting old,” the OB-GYN said, with a laugh.
Farhat and Garland Scott have run the Women’s Alliance of Jackson, a private-practice obstetrics and gynecology office affiliated with the hospital, for 34 years. Both are retiring this month.
Between the two of them, they estimate they’ve delivered 20,000 babies in their careers, mostly in Jackson.
“We’ve contributed a lot to the community and the patients definitely appreciate us and we appreciate them,” Scott said.
Scott and Farhat joined Women’s Alliance of Jackson, formerly on Franklin Street, in 1987 when the doctors running the practice wanted to retire. Scott spent time working for the U.S. Army and decided to bring his family to Jackson, while Farhat was recruited because there was a shortage of OB-GYN doctors in the area.
