Inspiring Innovation conference starts Thursday morning

Resisting your comfort zone is important to growing and progressing, said Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith, a wellness expert who is scheduled to be the closing speaker at Thursday’s Guam Women’s Chamber of Commerce s Fanachu Famalao’an, or Women Rising, annual empowerment conference.
The virtual conference, with the theme “Inspiring Innovation,” is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to noon.
The event’s keynote speaker is former Guam resident Suhana Han, who graduated from Harvard Law School and is now a partner in the Sullivan & Cromwell LLP Litigation Group in New York. Han will discuss adapting to the pandemic, from a professional perspective.

For her speech, Megan Thee Stallion held back tears before thanking her fellow nominees, those on her team and her mom.
“First of all, I wanna say [that] everybody is amazing,” she says. “Every artist that was nominated for this award is so amazing so shout out to all of you. Secondly, I just really want to thank God because thank you for putting life into my body to even be here today….I really wanna say thank you to my mama, she’s not here with me today, but I know she’s here with me in spirit. She always believed I could do it.”
Sound & Color. This win also marks the last time a female won the Best Rock Performance category. Alabama Shakes has been nominated in this particular category three other times for 2012’s “Hold On,” 2013’s “Always Alright” and 2015’s “Joe (Live From Austin City Limits).”

The Grammys is a big night for first-time nominee Bridgers. Thanks to her new album
Punisher, she earned four nominations including Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for “Kyoto” as well as
Best New Artist.
Bridgers recently told
Variety that she is grateful to be nominated amongst so many artists she listened to during the global pandemic this year.
“One of my favorite people called me and was like, ‘If you hadn’t gotten nominated, the Grammys would be bullshit establishment but the fact that you are is the best thing to ever happen,’” she told
Variety. “Of course, it’s a dream, and the most special part to me is to be nominated this year, with so many artists who made the records that got me through the pandemic.”
