Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Haryana, Rajeev Arora on Thursday inaugurated the second phase of setting up ‘jail radios’ in the prisons of all districts across the state.
In the second phase, four ‘jail radios’ were set up inside the prisons of four districts, namely Karnal, Hisar, Gurugram and Rohtak.
Arora said the programmes were focused on the activities of the jail and the inmates and would be presented by the inmates only.
Dr Vartika Nanda, chairperson of the journalism department at Lady Shri Ram College and founder Tinka-Tinka Foundation, said an hour-long programme, focusing entirely on prison activities andrun by inmates, would be broadcast daily through the ‘jail radios’. TNS
