NHS England chair faces demands to explain role in Greensill lobbying

That encounter led to Greensill being able to meet the chief executives of a number of NHS hospital trusts whose support he was seeking for a scheme to let the NHS’s 1.4m staff in England be paid daily by Greensill, via an app called Earnd, rather than monthly in what Labour said was a latter-day “junk bonds” exercise. Harding is best known as the boss of the government’s heavily-criticised £37bn test and trace programme. Calls for clarity about Prior’s involvement with Greensill come amid continuing controversy about the roles played by David Cameron, the former prime minister, who was a lobbyist for and senior figure at the firm, and Matt Hancock, the health secretary, who backed the payments system it wanted to introduce across the health service.

Contact tracing may cut the coronavirus R rate by as little as 2%, Dido Harding admits

Testing tsar Dido Harding admits 20,000 people a DAY might be flouting self-isolation

Around 20,000 people every day are flouting instructions to self-isolate, the government s testing tsar admitted today.  Baroness Dido Harding gave the staggering estimate - and conceded it could be even higher - as she was grilled by MPs. Amid rising anxiety that the lack of compliance with the Test & Trace system could hamper efforts to control the virus, the peer said evidence suggested 20 per cent of the 100,000 cases and contacts identified every day did not fully obey the rules. Lady Harding highlighted a range of potential reasons including money worries, not having help from people to obtain food and other essentials, or just finding the isolation too oppressive.
