For the first time in roughly two years, coaches from across the state gathered for softball sectional tournament draws on Sunday, May 2.
In the Southwest District, the Cincinnati Division I meeting was a hybrid meeting. The in-person aspect was held at Fairfield High School.
Milford drew the No 2. seed in the sectional behind only Lakota West. The Lady Eagles (19-3) took a first-round bye and will host either No. 21 Wilmington (5-11) or No. 26 Sycamore (2-12) on Wednesday, May 12.
A win would send Milford to the district semifinal, scheduled to be played at Fairfield High School on Monday, May 17.

Lauren Lee loves being in the water. From a young age, I fell in love with the water and I don t want to leave, she said.
Lee jokes that when she s unable to swim, her parents water bill goes up.
After swimming with the Lady Wolves for four years, Lee will be leaving to go to school at a college within diving distance of the ocean and giving her the opportunity to study marine biology a field she s long been interested in.
GREEN RIVER The Rock Springs High School (RSHS) soccer teams showed out on Thursday night against Green River High School (GRHS), combining and outscoring the Wolves 13-1.
In their previous matchup in Rock Springs, it was the Tigers who won both games against the Wolves, which resulted in a combining total score of 16-1. Rock Springs once again dominated in the second matchup of the year, winning both games.
The Lady Tigers and Lady Wolves played first, with Rock Springs securing an 11-0 victory. Rock Springs’ put up six goals in the first half and another five in the second half. The Tigers improve to 9-2 on the season, while the Wolves fall to 2-9.
Merryville, Rosepine punches ticket to softball state tournament

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Both Merryville and Rosepine punched their ticket to the big dance in Sulphur next week following quarterfinal wins Thursday. The Lady Panthers took down Oberlin in five innings, 12-2, while the Lady Eagles defeated D’Arbonne Woods Charter 5-2 in seven innings.
For Merryville, it’s the school’s first trip to the state tournament in 15 years. Senior pitcher Riley Dyson started things off with a bomb over the left-field wall to give them an early lead and scored the winning run in the bottom of the fifth.
The Davenport Lady Wolves recorded a landmark victory at the District 28-4A Golf Tournament in Kerrville on March 30, becoming the first team in school history to claim a varsity district championship.
Davenport, which officially opened in the summer of 2020, earned the historic win at Scott Schreiner Golf Course after tallying a two-day team score of 749. The Lady Wolves fired a 370 on the opening day of competition and followed that up with a 379 to win the event.
âThese girls have put in the time and effort and deserve to be called champions,â head coach Terrell Johnston said. âThey have been grinding on the range, putting greens, chipping areas, and on courses all over the New Braunfels area since September. All five players have sacrificed weekends, holidays, time with family, and even Spring Break to work on their skills to be prepared for the district tournament.â
