LAKHIMPUR: The Mangalmoy Grantha Utsav 2021 (Mangalmoy Book Festival 2021) kick-started in Lakhimpur on Saturday with a festive spirit. The book fair event, with the tagline Kitapor Pakhi Pindhu Ahok (Let s be ornamented with the feathers of books), has been organized by Mangalbodh Jagaran Kendra, a social organization of Lakhimpur, dedicated for the service of humanity, nature, culture and language, education and health at Ahu Chaol Gaon Ranga Mancha with a five-day-long colourful agenda till March 3.
The agenda of the event began with the unfurling of flag by organizing committee president Uday Sankar Hazarika. It was followed by smriti tarpan event which was conducted by working president Narayan Baruah. A massive plantation drive was inaugurated by writer Dipak Bordoloi. The book stalls, which are taking part in the event, were formally inaugurated by distinguished guests.

MANGALDAI: Darrang district administration is determined to leave no stone unturned in ensuring a totally free, fair and safe election in the district. It is the duty and responsibility of the administration to offer all facilities to every citizen of the district in exercising their democratic right to participate in the largest democracy of the world, said Darrang Deputy Commissioner-cum- District Election Officer Dilip Kumar Borah while addressing the first official press meet on Saturday evening immediately after the publication of the notification to the assembly election in Assam. Stressing upon the safety aspect of the polls, he also said that the elections would be conducted keeping in mind all the COVID safety precautions, including supply of adequate numbers of face masks and sanitizers for the polling officials as well as the voters.
