I remember the day in 1997 when the producer of Gardeners’ Question Time first contacted me and asked if we could meet. Trevor Taylor (of Taylor Made Broadcasts) had taken over at short notice when Stefan Buczacki and the then panel defected to the new Classic FM station in 1994. Anne Swithinbank, Queen of House Plants, was the first of the current panel on the show, and Eric Robson was the new chairman.

The coronavirusvaccine rollout has hit a new record with 1.2 million vaccinations given in the last three days according to NHS figures. The Government’s target is to vaccinate 13.5 million people by mid-February but has thus far vaccinated around 5.6m. But now senior doctors are calling on England’s chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty to reduce the gap between the first and second dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
